EFT tapping is a simple and flexible method that combines gentle touch (somatic) with attention to thoughts and feelings. Using your fingertips to tap on acupuncture points on the face, hands, and body, you can create a sensation that communicates safety to the brain and body. At the same time, you temporarily focus on an issue and the emotions you want to resolve.
An ever-growing body of research-based evidence validates EFT’s effectiveness in reducing stress and helping with the underlying energetic effects of emotions in the body.
This process only takes a few minutes and can be practiced anywhere. Tapping can be done alone or with a trained EFT practitioner.
While EFT Tapping doesn't cure or treat mental or physical health concerns, it has the potential to change how you react to uncomfortable thoughts, feelings, and memories associated with stressful events.
Tapping to reduce stress
The points you will tap on are natural stress-relief points on the body. Think of times you may have been stressed or worried and naturally rubbed your temples or forehead, put pressure on your collarbone, or rubbed your chin. We instinctively try to calm the body touching those meridian points. It’s like acupuncture but without the needles.
During an EFT session, we tap on those points and a few others sending a physical message to the brain that we are safe, which can help the mind relax. Research has also shown that EFT tapping decreases cortisol (the stress hormone) to promote physical relaxation.
While we tap (which tells the body it's safe), we temporarily bring attention to our emotions around stressful events, and after a few rounds, we often feel a reduction in emotional intensity. When the Holy Spirit leads this process, deep transformation can be possible.
